About

I am a conservation geneticist and molecular ecologist, with interests in both fundamental evolutionary questions and applied problems in conservation. I seek to understand how organisms adapt to suit their environments--and how changes to those environments can impact populations.

In addition to questions of evolution and conservation, I am also passionate about research methodology itself. I am fascinated by conservation innovations and new developments in biotechnology, and I enjoy the process of experimentation and study to find improved ways to accomplish a research goal.

Some topics of particular interest to me are listed below:
  • Effects of environmental change on wildlife
  • Host-parasite evolution and wildlife disease
  • Rapid adaptation in response to disturbance
  • Human-wildlife conflict
  • Genetic research using non-invasive sampling
  • Conservation policy
  • Evaluation of conservation outcomes
